Our bodies tend to take the shape and become a result of the environments around us. If you’ve ever had to work diligently at a physical task, consistently and over time, you’ve no doubt come to learn that your muscles, skill and dexterity of movement for that task have improved the more you were at it. Overall fitness can be viewed the same way.
Our bodies have evolved to move. Human beings have the ability to balance on two powerful legs while running over inconstant terrain and relatively high speeds, jumping and maneuvering to avoid or go over obstacles and if necessary, move or carry objects throughout. There are factors of fitness within our overall health that influence these abilities. Our lung capacity, strength of muscles, bone density, cardiovascular capacity and how much oxygen we can keep within our system and so much more. Fitness is the way we improve and sustain these abilities.
